LICENSING MANAGER (PART-TIME, 3 DAYS/WK)

The Licensing Manager at Fairtrade ANZ works collaboratively to maintain relationships with our licensees around the use of the Fairtrade Mark, the most recognised ethical label in the world. 

The Team

Fairtrade Australia & New Zealand works to facilitate the development of Fairtrade markets in Australia & New Zealand and the sustainable development of producing communities in developing nations. Fairtrade Australia & New Zealand is a member of Fairtrade International and licenses Australian and New Zealand businesses to trade Fairtrade Certified products and carry the international FAIRTRADE Mark. The Fairtrade Mark is an independent label that indicates to consumers that a product has met internationally-agreed Fairtrade standards. It shows that the product has been certified, and the Fairtrade ingredients in the product have been audited throughout the supply chain. The Fairtrade Mark is the most widely recognised ethical label in the world.

The Licensing and Certification Team is the first point of contact for enquiries related to licensing as well as the annual audit program to ensure conformity with Fairtrade Standards. 

The Role

The primary responsibilities of the Licensing Manager will be to assist in the management of the Licensing team which is responsible for:

  • Managing licensing enquiries from application through to completed agreements;
  • Registering, approving and reviewing the registration of products;
  • Reviewing and approving all uses of the Fairtrade Mark as well as references to Fairtrade on all promotional and packaging materials;
  • Providing information and support to all Fairtrade licensed businesses in Australia and New Zealand on Fairtrade Licensing requirements
  • Maintaining licensee databases;
  • Developing materials to communicate licensing and labelling requirements to all prospective and existing customers in Australia and New Zealand;
  • Manage licensing relationships;
  • Analyse and provide advice on trademark issues in the Australian and New Zealand market;
  • Manage Fairtrade’s response to unauthorised use of our trademark;
  • Manage Fairtrade’s relationship with our pro-bono lawyers in Australia and New Zealand;
  • Participate in the rollout and implementation of licensing projects including consultation/liaising with licensees.

Acting in collaboration with the Certification & Licensing Manager, the Licensing Manager will work closely with other colleagues in both our Melbourne and Auckland offices. Travel within Australia and New Zealand may be required in the role.

Competencies

Technical Knowledge and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Economics, Commerce, Law, or Social Sciences, or demonstrated comparable work experience
  • Awareness of international trade and sustainability issues
  • Demonstrated experience working with trademarks

Professional Skills
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong time and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with databases and spreadsheets
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with stakeholders

The expected salary for this position is between $55,000-$65,000 plus 9.5% super contribution pro-rata. 

This position is currently part-time permanent, three days per week. 
Benefits

As a non-profit, public-benevolent institution, we can't offer you the highest salary, but do offer a salary packaging scheme that allows up to $18,450 of your salary to be taken tax-free, this means more money in your pocket! For example, on a $55k salary, your take home pay could be the equivalent pay packet of a salary of over $63k when taking full advantage of the scheme.
