Your business will need to become Fairtrade licensed if you want to develop or manufacture Fairtrade Labelled products under your own brand name or on behalf of a client.

Fairtrade Certification and Labelling requires full supply chain traceability and integrity from the producer through to the final labelled finished product. You will need to become licensed if you are involved in transforming or manufacturing Fairtrade Certified ingredients in to end consumer products, either directly or through sub-contractors.

Fairtrade licensed businesses:

• Have a signed licence agreement with Fairtrade Australia & New Zealand (Fairtrade ANZ) which allows them to use the Fairtrade Label on products whose ingredients have been sourced through a Fairtrade supply chain and meet Fairtrade standards
• Maintain traceability of Fairtrade ingredients through the supply chain
• Report quarterly on their Fairtrade business activities, and
• Typically pay a 2% licence fee on the net wholesale value of their Fairtrade sales.
