At Fairtrade Australia and New Zealand we are proud to collaborate with partners who support our work to empower and improve the lives of farmers and workers in developing countries.
Their support enables us to extend our operations across the Pacific and grow the impact of Fairtrade.
The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)
The partnership with DFAT enables Fairtrade to build market demand and local consumer support for Fairtrade products in Australia. The partnership also supports research enabling Fairtrade to strengthen its work linking smallholder producers in developing Indo-Pacific countries with Australian, regional and international markets.
The partnership is an important opportunity to significantly scale up Fairtrade’s impact for poverty alleviation and empowerment of small farmers and workers in the Indo-Pacific region.
You can read more in our news story on our partnership with DFAT
The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT)
Fairtrade ANZ’s strategic partnership with MFAT aims to foster economic development in the Pacific Island Countries through Fairtrade certification. Support from MFAT funds the core activities of Fairtrade ANZ’s Producer Support and Relations project, which addresses smallholder producers based in the Pacific, providing services such as training on Fairtrade Standards, access to international markets, business investment and consumer awareness raising in New Zealand about the importance of Fairtrade in the Pacific.
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)
Fairtrade's partnership with IFAD aims to improve Fairtrade farmers’ entrepreneurial and organisational capacity through the use of information and communication technology (ICT), enabling them to access market information and to interact with a wider range of members of the supply chain. Access to market information will enable Fairtrade farmers based in the most isolated areas of Papua New Guinea to build producer-to-consumer relations and to identify market opportunities to increase their income.
The Interchurch Cooperative for Development Cooperation (ICCO)
In partnership with ICCO, Fairtrade designed the project 'Promoting Good Governance Amongst Fairtrade Certified Farmers' through which a new capacity building package on Fairtrade Standards for good governance and transparency was developed and implemented. The project builds on Fairtrade's efforts to encourage democratic and transparent organisations in the region with the addition of new training materials to its growing Producer Library and expanded community outreach.
International Horizons supports Fairtrade Australia and New Zealand’s audit and certification process. Access to Eggsfiles software improves the quality and effectiveness of our audit and certification processes so you can be sure when buying products with the Fairtrade Mark that it stands for a fair deal for farmers.
